In a repeat from less than two years ago, Lt. Gen. James L. Terry has been succeeded by Lt. Gen. Mark A. Milley.
Gen. Milley, who succeeded Gen. Terry in November 2011 as commander of Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division, took over as commander of the International Security Assistance Forces Joint Command in Afghanistan on Thursday, Stars and Stripes reported.
At the ceremony in Kabul, Gen. Milley was quoted as saying operations this year are critical to creating a stable Afghanistan.
Gen. Milley left Fort Drum in December to lead III Corps, Fort Hood, Texas. Gen. Terry will return to V Corps, Wiesbaden, Germany.
