RUSSELL — The academic leaders for the class of 2013 at Edwards-Knox Central School are Brianna Farr, valedictorian, and Samantha Ellison, salutatorian.

Miss Farr, daughter of Sarah and Morgan Farr, Russell, has an academic average of 95.13. She is a member of National Honor Society and is listed on the Outstanding Honor Roll. She received awards for highest Regents exam scores for Earth science and chemistry. For four years, she was class treasurer and a member of the swim team. Miss Farr works at her family’s greenhouse and has been a lifeguard for Higley Flow State Park and Edwards-Knox Central School. She volunteers at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, did yard work for an ill teacher, and participates in BUDDIES, a peer mentoring program. Miss Farr received the Achievement Award from Clarkson University, Potsdam, where she plans to pursue a degree in pre-medical sciences.

Miss Ellison, daughter of Tammy and Todd Ellison, Canton, has an academic average of 93.60. She is president of the National Honor Society and is on the High Honor Roll. She received awards for highest Regents exam scores for physics and algebra 2/trigonometry. For four years, she served as class secretary and has been a member of the school’s band, softball team and swim team. Miss Ellison received the Section X Lisa Lane Award and participated in BUDDIES, collected food for the local food bank and did yard work for an ill staff member. She received the Leadership Award from Clarkson University, where she will study business.
