Salaries for Mayor Jeffrey E. Graham and the other four Watertown City Council members are in line for 2 percent increases in the proposed 2013-14 city budget.

The mayor is expected to be paid a $17,236 salary, up $505 from $16,731.

Other council members would each receive $12,926, an increase of $378 from $12,548.

Since 2009, the mayor and council members received increases of 2 percent in 2009-10, 1.5 percent in 2010-11 and 1 percent the last two years.

The $41 million proposed budget, released Monday, carries a 2 percent tax levy increase.

As proposed, the spending plan would increase the amount to be raised by taxes to about $7.5 million. The projected tax rate would be $7.30 — or less than a penny increase — per $1,000 of assessed value. A taxpayer with a $200,000 property would pay $1,460, a little less than $20 more than this year.

Council members plan to hold a budget session in early May.

They must approve a budget by June 1.
