CANTON — Elizabeth McGinley threw a one-hit shutout and struck out 10 to lead the St. Lawrence University women’s softball team to a 12-0 win over SUNY Canton in a nonconference game on Friday.

McGinley also went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Saints (17-13 overall). Aisha O’Connor and Lauren Weisbarth each produced three hits for SLU, while Chelsea Cavellier, Caroline Kieltyka and Cailyn Welsh all knocked out two hits.

Tina DeLuca had the lone hit for the Kangaroos (13-20).

SUNY POTSDAM 5-4, SUNY FREDONIA 3-13

Amanda Perry went 3-for-4, including a home run, and drove in two runs to lead the Bears (11-19, 2-14) over SUNY Fredonia in the opening game of a SUNYAC doubleheader in Potsdam.

Madeline Medina went 4-for-4 in game two to help SUNY Fredonia (9-22, 4-11) salvage a split. Anne Wasik went 3-for-3 in the second game for SUNY Fredonia. Katie Marsman and Molly McCuin produced two hits in game two for the Bears.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

ST. LAWRENCE 18, RIT 13

Brigid Hurley, Hannah Calvelli and Stephanie O’Rourke each scored four goals to lead SLU past the Tigers (9-6, 4-4) in a Liberty League game at Rochester, clinching a bid in next weekend’s conference tournament.

Carly VanTassel added two goals and four assists for the Saints (10-5, 6-2). Joey Kelly, Holly Noyes, Tasha Cornell-Roberts and Mackenzie Collins also scored for SLU.

Sage Sarkis led RIT with four goals and Shelby Vakiener added three goals and three assists. Marleee Vlassis tallied two goals for RIT.

CLARKSON 13, ROCHESTER 12 (OT)

Katie VanDeValk scored with two minutes left in overtime to push the Golden Knights past the Yellowjackets in a Liberty League game in Rochester.

Christine Wright led Clarkson (11-4, 4-4) with five goals and two assists. VanDeValk finished with three goals and Marissa Mastronardi and Alyssa Cristaldi each scored two goals. Kerrie Cline also scored for Clarkson.

Sarah Skinner and Stephanie Ortell each tallied three goals for Rochester (2-12, 1-7). Cassie Mahar and Lauren Basil supplied two goals.

GOLF

JCC places fourth

Mike Donnelly and George LaBarr each shot 81 to help Jefferson Community College place fourth at the Red Baron Invitational at Corning Country Club.

Chadd Call added an 83, Bryant McCarthy fired an 87 and Andrew Robinson an 88 for the Cannoneers, who finished behind winner Monroe CC, Jamestown CC and Onondaga CC.

Broome CC’s David Hensberry was the medalist with a 73.
