Track promoters and drivers hope to open the 2013 local auto season this weekend. Last week, three speedways canceled their season openers due to poor weather conditions.
Can-Am Motorsports Speedway Park is slated to start its season tonight with the Empire Super Sprints headlining the race program. The sprints are racing for a $1,600 payoff for the winner.
Racing is also scheduled for the sportsman modified division, with the winner collecting $800.
There is a $500-to-win street stocks/pro stocks challenge as well as racing in the pro late models, thunder cars and novice sportsman divisions. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m.
At the Brewerton Speedway, racing is slated for the big-block modified division, as well as the IMCA modifieds, mod lites, four-cylinder super stocks and the Outlaw 200 Weekend four-cylinder open. Racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday night, Evans Mills Speedway is set to open with a full racing program. Racing starts at 6.
