An unusual town of Lyme waterfront property that had been owned by the same family for generations has changed hands.

Property records at the Jefferson County clerk’s office show that the 102-acre parcel, which includes most of Hardscrabble Point on Point Peninsula, was sold April 18 by members of the Logan family of Aurora, Ohio, to Dr. David V. Reindl, Watertown, for $980,000. The property, which includes 3,300 feet of shoreline frontage looking out to Fox Island, had been in the Atkinson and Logan families for about 75 years.

Amanda J. Miller, owner of Lake Ontario Realty, 12396 Route 12E, Chaumont, who brokered the transaction, said the sale represented a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity for her because, given the property’s size and location on Lake Ontario, it is “an incredibly unique property,” the type that does not frequently come onto the market.

“It’s the kind of property that 10 years from now everyone’s going to wish they could have bought,” she said.

The property includes a three-bedroom duck-hunting camp, as well as several concrete duck-hunting blinds built by the Logan family. It also includes more than 90 acres of forestland, leading Ms. Miller and the family to assume that it would bought by someone with the intention of developing the property. However, she said, Dr. Reindl plans to maintain the property for personal use.

“It’s nice to see someone come along and really appreciate it and fall in love with it the way we did,” Ms. Miller said.

County property records show the property has a tentative 2013 assessment of $1.23 million, with a tentative full market value of $1.28 million.
