Richard “Dick” A. Diagostino, 75 of Roosevelt St, Massena passed away Saturday evening (April 20,2013), surrounded by his loving family, at the Massena Memorial Hospital where he had been taken earlier in the week.

Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday afternoon from 2-4 and evening 7-9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, the day of his birth, at 3:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Scott Fobare presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Massena. Dick is survived by his wife Mary Ellen, his two sons, Frank and Patty, Jack and Mary Ann and daughter Jill and Paul Murphy all of Massena, step son Michael and Wanda Macauley of Louisville, NY. Dick also leaves behind his beloved eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Dick was born April 24, 1937 in Massena the son of Frank and Venitta (Ashley) Diagostino. He graduated from Massena High School and started his career working on the Seaway construction project. He served in the US Army Reserve. Following the completion of the Seaway, Dick started employment at Reynolds Metals Plant, where he retired from in 1999 after 39 years as an electrician. Dick was married to Mary Ellen Reynolds Macauley July 11, 1980 in Massena by Rev. Douglas Fowler.

Dick was a member of the Reynolds Retiree Club, an active member of the American Legion Post # 79 where he volunteered many times cooking the Fish Fry Dinners, and the Am Vets Post # 4. Dick and his wife Mary Ellen enjoyed camping at Cranberry Lake, downhill skiing, but most of all he really enjoyed being with his grandchildren attending their sporting events.
