CANTON — Chelsea Cavellier had three hits and Caroline Kieltyka added two hits and three RBIs to lead the St. Lawrence University softball team to a 6-3 win over village-rival SUNY Canton in a nonconference game on Wednesday.

Aisha O’Connor and Natasha Bell each provided two hits for the Saints (12-11 overall) and Kyle Plimpton struck out seven.

Hallie Fenti homered for the Kangaroos (10-17).

BASEBALL

ST. LAWRENCE 15, SUNY PLATTSBURGH 4

Carter Franz went 4-for-5, including a home run, and drove in three runs to lead the Saints (13-8) past SUNY Plattsburgh in a nonconference game in Canton.

Chris Fernandez went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs for the Saints. Brian Magovney went 2-for-2 for the Saints, including a home run. Jeff Kott, Kevin Prindle and Paul Piatelli each added two hits.

Shane Houppert led the Cardinals (9-17) with three hits. Brian Latulipe, Chris Pescetti and J.D. Springer each had two hits for SUNY Plattsburgh.

JEFFERSON CC 16-3, MOHAWK VALLEY CC 5-6

Tyler Decker finished with six hits overall, including two doubles, and drove in two runs in each game as the Cannoneers split a Region 3 East Division doubleheader with the Hawks in Utica.

In the first game, Jake Welch struck out seven batters in a complete-game victory, and Kyle Simmons knocked in four runs on three hits for JCC (12-11, 6-2). Louie Diaz provided four hits and two RBI.

SUNY Canton 5-5, CAZENOVIA 1-0

Braden Giffin went 3-for-3 in the opening game of a nonconference doubleheader to lead the Kangaroos (6-16) to a sweep of Cazenovia in Canton.

Kyle Sacks drove in three runs for SUNY Canton in the opener and Alex LaFountain threw a two-hit shutout in game two, striking out nine. Eddy Morel and Kevin Hill each had two hits in the second game for the Kangaroos.

Pat Shepardson and Michael Makara had two hits for Cazenovia (8-17) in game one.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

JEFFERSON CC 18, HERKIMER CCC 4

Erica Gardner accounted for six goals and one assist as the Cannoneers picked up a win over the Generals at General Brown high school.

Allison Brady provided two goals and three assists, and Kaitlyn Rajner generated four goals. Gabrielle Navarra contributed two goals, two assists, seven caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Caitlin Stone added two goals, one assist and seven ground balls, and Ashley Kirch made 11 saves for JCC (4-2).

Courtney Canavan scored three goals for Herkimer CCC (1-7).
