LOWVILLE — Charges are possible against a Watertown woman involved in a fatal crash over the weekend.

Unspecified penal and traffic law charges are being considered against Deborah Aguirre, 40, 1429 Gill St., Apt. 446B, said Lewis County Undersheriff James M. Monnat.

However, that will likely be delayed until she is released from the hospital, he said.

Town of Martinsburg resident Renee J. Beyer, 39, died Monday of injuries suffered in a head-on crash Saturday afternoon on Route 12 in the town of Harrisburg.

Ms. Aguirre, under the name Deborah Kerwin, was confirmed by a nurse manager Tuesday to be at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse. Mr. Monnat said Ms. Aguirre, who swerved into the oncoming lane, broke both of her legs.

Flags at the Lewis County Courthouse complex were flown at half-staff Tuesday in honor of Mrs. Beyer, the county’s senior planner.

Arrangements with Iseneker Funeral Home, Lowville, are incomplete.
