SYRACUSE — Quarterback Drew Allen will transfer to Syracuse University from the University of Oklahoma, according to a report on syracuse.com Friday night that cited a source within the program.

Allen, who is listed at 6-foot-5 and 226 pounds, has one year of college football eligibility remaining. He served as the backup to Landry Jones for the Sooners the past three years after redshirting the 2009 season. The San Antonio, Texas, native was a PrepStar All-American coming out of high school.

Allen saw limited playing time in his Oklahoma career, completing 18-of-30 passes for 160 yards in 12 games.

He will join a competition for the 2013 starting position that includes returnees Charley Loeb, John Kinder and Terrel Hunt.
