Michael Netto of the Watertown YMCA Blue Sharks swimming team finished 15th in the 100-yard breaststroke during the YMCA Short Course National Championships on April 3-6 at Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.
There were 1,585 registered swimmers from 213 participating YMCAs at the competition.
Netto, a Watertown High School junior, clocked a time of 57.68 seconds in the 100 breaststroke to earn YMCA All-America status. He also finished 24th in the 200 breaststroke, 55th in the 200 individual medley and 92nd in the 100 freestyle. The Watertown Family YMCA, with Netto as the only competitor, placed 53rd in the mens team category.
During the time trial events, Netto took first place in the 50 breaststroke and 24th in the 100 butterfly.
