DEXTER — Caleb M. Burns, 26, of 12575 County Route 5, Clayton, was charged Saturday morning by Dexter village police with second-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief.

The burglary charge relates to an incident early Saturday on West Grove Street, where he allegedly broke into an apartment, causing an extensive amount of damage.

Police said he then walked to a Canal Street tavern, where he allegedly threw a rock at a door, breaking its window, and broke a flat-screen television.

He was sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, on $5,000 bail.
