SLU men’s lacrosse trio earns weekly awards

St. Lawrence University men’s lacrosse players Jack Nuland, Jeremy Vautor and Mac Johnson were named Liberty League top performers of the week.

Nuland, a senior, was selected defensive performer of week after making 21 saves and giving up only 10 goals as the Saints beat SUNY Geneseo, 9-7, on March 26 and Union 4-3 on Friday. Vautor was named rookie of the week after the freshman notched his third hat trick of the season against SUNY Geneseo. Johnson and Clarkson’s Brendon Shearin were named to honor roll.

Clarkson freshman and former Immaculate Heart Central player Christine Wright was awarded women’s lacrosse rookie of the week for the third time after netting eight points, including four goals in a 16-12 win over Skidmore on Friday. Clarkson’s Alyssa Cristaldi and St. Lawrence’s Brigid Hurley were named to the honor roll.

Clarkson’s Greg Jasek earned baseball rookie of the week after posting a complete-game shutout in a 6-0 win over Skidmore on Saturday. The freshman also drove in five runs during the weekend. Clarkson’s Dave Wixted and SLU’s Joe Riley also grabbed spots on the league honor roll.

The SLU women’s varsity eight crew of Heidi Weiss, Jenette Kloss, Britton Weber, Emily Hutchinson, Maggie Fellows, Sally Dankner, Jess Burdett, Maddy Fones and Kelly Greenwood was named crew of the week after winning at the University of Rochester.
