John D. Marilley, 54, of 126 S. Hamilton St., was charged Thursday night by state police with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree issuing a false statement.
Troopers said Mr. Marilley told them he found a set of license plates, but they actually came from a stolen vehicle. More charges are pending.
He was given an appearance ticket for Pamelia Town Court.
