COLTON A feud between students at Colton-Pierrepont Central School and another unidentified school district that began on Facebook came to a head Monday afternoon when a gun was waved out the window of a vehicle driving through the parking lot at the school.
In a statement posted on the districts Facebook page Monday evening, Superintendent Joseph A. Kardash wrote, We had a suspicious vehicle in the north parking lot after school today. While exiting the property a passenger in the vehicle waved an object out the window that may have been a gun.
Students were brought into the building and doors were locked. Once the police arrived, parents were called to pick up students and after school activities were cancelled, he said.
Mr. Kardash said police have identified suspects and are conducting their investigation.
There are currently no continuing concerns for student safety related to this incident, he wrote.
Mr. Kardash confirmed Monday night that there was a gun involved in the incident.
The troopers informed me in the end there was a gun, but they have yet to find it, he said, adding, no shots were fired and no one was injured.
Mr. Kardash said, based on the information he has received so far, there are no plans to discipline any students from his district.
