Tri-Town Pee Wees improve to 2-0 at national regionals

SHELTON, Conn. - Andrew Lantry and Drew Rose both had a goal and an assist and Will Arquiett added two assists to lead the Tri-Town Pee Wees to a 5-1 victory over the Rhode Island Vikings in the Tier III national regional tournament.

The Timberwolves will close out preliminary round action at 7:30 p.m. tonight when they meet the Belmont Marauders from Massachusetts.

Drew Rose again opened the scoring with an unassisted marker with 3 minutes remaining in the first period in this afternoon’s contest against Rhode Island.

Wyatte Roberts scored 4:02 into the second period from Arquiett and Andrew Lantry. Evan “Bubba” Lantry netted a goal 9:30 into the period from Noah Adams and Trent Dow finished out the Timberwolves balanced second period scoring effort with a goal with 1:21 left in the stanza. Arquiett and Rose drew assists on the Dow goal.

RI struck first in the third at the 7:53 mark with Zachary DiMuccio scoring from Max DiMuccio to cut the Tri-Town lead to 4-1, but Andrew Lantry ended the Vikings’ hopes for a comeback with an unassisted goal 11:14 into the third period.

Tri-Town goalie Rico DiMatteo made 16 stops for the Timberwolves.

The other four-team division consists of teams from Connecticut, Maine, Vermont and another squad from Massachusetts. The top two teams from each division advance to the Sunday morning semi-finals at 9 a.m. The national Tier III Regional Championship Game is slated to face-off at 3 p.m.
