CANTON — St. Lawrence County Clerk Mary Lou Rupp is warning of a scam that offers residents a chance to buy copies of their deed for $83.

A solicitation letter, which circulates in the county every few years, comes as an invoice and is labeled deed processing notice.

Anyone who wants a certified copy of a deed may buy it at the clerk’s office, Court House, 48 Court St. for $5.
