The LeRay Planning Board granted site plan approval for a Northern Federal Credit Union branch off Route 11 in front of the Walmart in Evans Mills.

Northern Federal will complete the purchase of 1.4 acres of property the 3,000-square-foot building will occupy, then start soliciting bids for construction from local contractors. According to a statement from the company, plans are to start construction in June and be ready for a grand opening in early 2014. It has partnered with Watertown-based GYMO Architecture, Engineering & Land Surveying to plan the location.

President and CEO Daniel W. St. Hilaire called the opening of the company’s seventh branch “a pivotal step in the growth of the credit union.”
