POTSDAM Clarkson freshman Christine Wright, a 2012 graduate of Immaculate Heart Central, was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week for womens lacrosse.
She scored four goals and added two assists in her collegiate debut, a 15-9 victory over SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday.
Wrights teammate, Katie VanDeValk, and Ryan Cole of the Clarkson mens lacrosse team, were each named to the leagues weekly honor roll.
■ St. Lawrence senior Liz McGinley was named the Liberty Leagues Pitcher of the Week for softball. McGinley struck out a career-high 10 batters to help St. Lawrence win its season opener over Manhattanville on Saturday. She struck out three batters and allowed just three hits in a 3-0 loss to Monmouth on Sunday. Teammate Leslie Stratton was named to the leagues weekly honor roll.
Ella Martin and Divya Biswal of the St. Lawrence womens indoor track and field team, along with Michael Hayden of the mens tennis team, were selected as the leagues Performer of the Week in their respective sports.
■ Jordan Sarat and Ashley Thayer of the SUNY Potsdam softball team each received SUNYAC weekly honors. Sarat was named the conferences Player of the Week, and Thayer was chosen as the Pitcher of the Week.
Sarat, a freshman, hit a pair of home runs and allowed four hits in six innings on the mound in her collegiate debut. Thayer earned two wins, pitching the Bears to a season-opening sweep of Lyndon State.
