I enjoyed your North Country Remembered 5,874 in the March 3 edition.

However, Conifer is not in Franklin County. It is in St. Lawrence County. I grew up there. In the upper right corner of the picture you can see the store/office/post office for Conifer. The railroad track was 15 feet to 20 feet in front of where the cars are parked. The people on the snowmobiles would have traveled down this railroad bed toward the left in the picture. The railroad crossed the road in from Massawepie Scout Camp, where the snowmobilers would have headed for Childwood.

At one time the railroad from Conifer went all the way to Cranberry Lake.
