The St. Lawrence mens hockey team will be traveling to New Haven, Conn., to take on Yale in the best-of-three ECAC Hockey quarterfinals after fifth-seeded Dartmouth beat No. 12 Harvard, 6-3, in Sundays Game 3 of their first-round series.
St. Lawrence and Yale will begin their series on Friday.
The sixth-seeded Saints lost both games against No. 3 Yale this season by two-goal margins. SLU lost 4-2 on Nov. 10 at Ingalls Rink and 5-3 on Jan. 11 at Appleton Arena.
The other quarterfinals series are No. 9 Cornell at top-seeded Quinnipiac, No. 7 Brown at No. 2 Rensselaer and No. 5 Dartmouth at No. 4 Union.
WOMENS HOCKEY
CLARKSON TO FACE BU IN NCAAS
The Golden Knights earned an at-large berth into the NCAA tournament and will face the third-seeded Terriers on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Boston University (26-5-3) swept the Hockey East regular-season and postseason tournaments titles.
The winner will face the winner of No. 2 Cornell and Mercyhurst in the Frozen Four on March 22 in Minneapolis.
MENS LACROSSE
NAZARETH 12, ST. LAWRENCE 9
Luke Wooters and Chris Aycock each scored three goals as the Golden Flyers handed the Saints their first loss of the season in a nonconference play at Ithaca.
Wooters also handed out three assists for Nazareth (3-2). Mac Johnson notched a hat trick for St. Lawrence (2-1).
CAYUGA CC 17, JEFFERSON CC 11
Connor Wheelers seven goals powered the Spartans to a Mid-State Athletic Conference win in the season-opener for both teams at Corcoran High School in Syracuse.
Javier Zuniga and Javier Zuniga also tallied three goals for Cayuga Community College (1-0). Javier Primicias had three goals for Jefferson CC (0-1).
WOMENS LACROSSE
ELMIRA 21, SUNY CANTON 8
Moorea Spoljaric had four goals to lead a balanced Soaring Eagles attack as 10 players scored in their win over the Kangaroos at Elmira.
Marki Michaels, Emma Schepers and Gretchen Smith each added three goals for Elmira (2-1).
Brittani Bessette and Robyn Carroll had a pair of goals each for SUNY Canton (0-1).
BASEBALL
GETTYSBURG 4-3, SLU 0-0
Ryan Taylor threw a one-hit shutout and Drew Feisenthal tossed a seven-hit shutout in the nightcap as the Bullets swept the Saints (1-2) in a twin bill at Fort Myers, Fla.
Tommy LeNoir drove in a pair of runs in the opener for Gettysburg (3-1).
FREDERICK CC 4-8, JEFFERSON CC 2-6
Sam Crater slapped three hits and drove in a pair of runs in game two as the Cougars swept the Cannoneers in a doubleheader at Frederick, Md.
Kyle Simmons and Luie Diaz each had three hits for JCC (1-5) in the nightcap.
Ryan Miller drove in a pair of runs in the opener for Frederick CC (9-2).
SOFTBALL
SLU WINS NIGHTCAP OVER BECKER
Leslie Stratton and Elizabeth McGinley each belted a pair of hits as St. Lawrence used a three-run third inning to beat Becker (Mass.) College, 5-2, in the second game of the day at Clermont, Fla.
Kyle Plimpton struck out seven for St. Lawrence (2-2).
St. Lawrence lost 3-0 to Monmouth (Ill.) in a game played earlier Sunday.
