POTSDAM The SUNY Potsdam Math Alliance and the colleges Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program are hosting activities for Pi Day on Thursday.
The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. that day in the Barrington Student Union Multipurpose Room.
Pi, an important number in mathematics, can be rounded to 3.14. That corresponds with March 14, and math enthusiasts around the world often celebrate it as Pi Day.
The public is invited to engage in free activities such as face painting, temporary pi tattoos, discussions on pi history, pi comics, arts and crafts and a pi story corner. Prizes will be given to the winners of activities such as a scavenger hunt and a pie-eating contest.
For more information, call Math Alliance faculty adviser Derek Habermas at 267-2059 or CSTEP counselor Heather West at 267-2708.
