NORTH EAST, MD. Freshman Kyle Simmons drove in 10 runs on six hits overall as the Jefferson Community College baseball team began its season by splitting a doubleheader with host Cecil CC on Friday afternoon.
The Cannoneers scored 24 runs in the final two innings to win the first game, 27-8, before suffering a 10-6 defeat in game two.
Simmons provided five hits in game one, including two doubles and a triple. Sophomore Tyler Decker led the JCC offense in the second game with a pair of doubles and an RBI.
JCC will play another doubleheader against Cecil CC (2-4), which is nationally-ranked No. 20 in NJCAA Division II, today in the same location.
