The deadline has been extended to March 31 for people over age 50, or with a family history of colon cancer, to obtain a free colorectal cancer screening.
The fecal occult blood test kits may be picked up at Kinney Drugs locations in Jefferson County, Lowville and Gouverneur. They come with instructions and a return mailing envelope.
Screening kits are offered free of charge because of a partnership with Jefferson Community College, Kinney Drugs and Samaritan Medical Center. Testing and results reporting will take place at Samaritan, and results will be mailed to participants by May 15.
