CANTON — Kyle Flanagan will return to the St. Lawrence University lineup tonight against Colgate as the two teams open their ECAC Hockey first-round playoff series at Appleton Arena.

“He skated well in both practices, so he’ll be in the lineup (tonight),” Saints coach Greg Carvel said after Thursday’s practice.

Flanagan, a Canton native, underwent surgery last Tuesday to remove his appendix and had been sidelined until Wednesday, when he received clearance from his doctor to return to practice.

St. Lawrence’s senior captain, who is a Hobey Baker skated through full practices both Wednesday and Thursday.

“This is really good news,” Carvel added.

The best-of-three series between the sixth-seeded Saints and the 11th-seeded Raiders opens at 7 tonight in Canton with Game 2 on Saturday. Game 3, if necessary, will be played at the same time and site on Sunday.
