MORRISTOWN — A Hammond man has been charged with first-degree sexual abuse for sexual contact with a person under the age of 13, St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Gerard P. Scime, 57, was arrested Tuesday and accused in connection with abuse that began in 2004 and continued until 2010, when the alleged victim turned 12, deputies said. The youth’s gender was not identified by deputies.

The investigation continues, as Scime ran a campground in Morristown, deputies said, and there may be additional victims outside the area. The name of the campground was not released Tuesday.

Scime was committed to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or a $40,000 bond.
