Ryan A. Adams, 24, of 134 Union St., Upper Apt., was charged by Watertown police Tuesday afternoon at 1222 State St. with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police said Mr. Adams possessed an unregistered Springfield Armory XD .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun.

He was convicted Dec. 3 of endangering the welfare of a child.

He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
