MONTAGUE — An Oswego County man was injured in a snowmobile crash at 7:37 p.m. Tuesday on Sears Pond Road in the town of Montague.

Lewis County sheriff’s deputies said Gary E. Jones, 58, Fulton, was driving west on a 2011 Ski-Doo 600 when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing his sled to go off the road over an embankment and flip over. Mr. Jones was ejected and landed in brush and branches about 30 feet off the road, deputies said.

He was taken by helicopter to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, for treatment of chest and back injuries.

The investigation is continuing, deputies said, and charges may be pending.

Lewis County Search and Rescue assisted at the scene.
