MARTINSBURG — A Chenango County man was injured in a snowmobile accident at 10 a.m. Wednesday while riding along the Whetstone Gulf Reservoir in the town of Martinsburg.

Bruce A. Guida, 58, South New Berlin, was driving north on a 2009 Polaris HO 800 over a raised rail bed when his machine tipped, causing him to be thrown off the sled while his right boot was caught in the foot stirrup, according to Lewis County sheriff’s deputies.

Mr. Guida was taken by Lewis County Search and Rescue to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, for treatment of a lower leg fracture.

Martinsburg firefighters assisted at the scene.
