CANTON - Elizabeth (Libby) Brandt of Canton has been decorating pysankytraditional Ukrainian Easter eggsfor over 40 years. More than 100 of her extraordinary creations will be on display at The TAUNY Center from Saturday through March 30.
The artist will be at TAUNY at the exhibit opening from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday to answer questions about her work.
Pysanky are created using a wax-resist and over-dyeing technique, and incorporate traditional, richly symbolic designs. Pysanky decorating was a family tradition for Libbys children, and they have now passed it on to their children.
Libbys husband, Denny, has even created a special mechanical means for blowing out eggs quickly and efficiently.
