ROCHESTER - Sophomore Dylan Broomfield (Clinton, NY) won 15 faceoffs and scooped up 11 groundballs to give the Clarkson Univeristy mens lacrosse team numerous first-strike opportunities as the Golden Knights opened 2013 with a 13-9 victory over St. John Fisher College Thursday afternoon.
After an even first half, Clarkson shut out the Cardinals in the third period and scored a pair early on to build a three-goal lead, and the Knights maintained a two-goal lead for the remainder of the game.
For the Cardinals, Greg Ramsden had two goals and an assist while Boisvert scored twice. Jeff Wester also had a goal and two helpers for St. John Fisher.
Clarkson led in shots 39-31 and also held a 34-26 advantage in groundballs. St. John Fishers Jamie Campagna made 11 stops in goal.
