Michael R. Kinnie, producing artistic director of the Lake Ontario Playhouse, a comedy theater presenting stand-up comedy every Friday and Saturday in Sackets Harbor, also is filmmaker of a short comedy, Undercover Em, which was chosen to be featured as one of the local shorts at the Kingston (Ontario) Film Festival this weekend.
Mr. Kinnie wrote, directed and edited the film, which was shot on an iPhone. It will be shown at 7:10 tonight before the feature film, Picture Day, at the Baby Grand Theatre on Princess Street, Kingston.
Undercover Em is the story of a Canadian spy who goes way undercover as a newborn infant to try to see why her parents moved to Kingston, Ontario, from the U.S. The film is six minutes long and features Mr. Kinnies 11-month-old daughter in the leading role.
Mr. Kinnie and his wife, Rebecca Collins Kinnie, live in Kingston, but commute every weekend to the Lake Ontario Playhouse to present the comedy shows.
