Hammond Coach Shawn Dack calls senior Alyssa Crosby “the most dynamic girls basketball player in Section 10”.

The Northern New York Officials Board agreed and on Tuesday night named two-time NAC West Division Co-MVP as the 2013 recipient of the Jan Reetz Memorial Award. Crosby, who averages 18.2 points and 12.4 rebounds per game for the Class D Champion Devils, received the prestigious award to climax the annual Northern Athletic Conference Girls Basketball Awards Night.

“Her versatility and ability allows her to play any position in any situation. Each year she has developed into a more complete player on both sides of the floor,” said Dack after Crosby became the second Hammond player to win the award following 1997 recipient Heather Carvill.

“Her best attribute is getting her teammates involved first in each game. She has become eveything I thought she could be when she first began in fourth grade.”

Crosby was a Reetz Award finalist last year and has earned all-academic awards in every varsity season in all of her sports. She also excels in softball and soccer while being very active as a class officer, in the senior play and the school yearbook.

She also participates in several community service projects and plans further her academic and athletic careers in college.

Award Finalists

She was chosen for the Jan Reetz Award from an outstanding group of finalists which also includes Emma Rexford of Canton, Courtney Boyea of Hammond and Katie Stuart of Tupper Lake.
