The Watertown City School District will seek taxpayer approval to sell two properties.

At the Board of Education meeting Tuesday, Superintendent Terry N. Fralick proposed adding two propositions to the budget ballot in May asking permission to sell a maintenance building on Lansing Street and 10 acres on Butterfield Avenue.

“In order for the Board of Education to sell the property, the taxpayers, by law, have to grant permission,” he said.

He said developers have been interested in the land on Butterfield Avenue. While he did not have an assessment of it, the assessment for the maintenance offices was $138,000, according to Business Manager Dale M. Morrow.

The propositions will be listed third and fourth on the ballot after the budget and board candidates.
