Municipalities in Jefferson County have collected $239,021.26 through the online payment of property taxes since the service was expanded in January, according to Jefferson County Real Property Tax Services.

Eight towns now offer the service, up from two last year, and 261 bills have been paid online this year

Discover, Visa, Mastercard and electronic checks are accepted. Visa has been the most popular, accounting for 106 transactions. Second place went to e-checks, with 84 transactions.

The largest bill paid was $7,224.41 via Mastercard. The smallest, $1.33 by Visa.
