SYRACUSE — The Syracuse men’s lacrosse team held Army scoreless for the opening 21 minutes, 48 seconds to help the Orange to its first win of the year with a 6-2 triumph at the Carrier Dome on Sunday.

Bobby Wardwell made 11 saves and set a Syracuse school-record for fewest goals allowed in a game. Defenseman Brian Megill held Army (2-2) top scorer Garrett Thul without a goal, which ended Thul’s 42-game goal-scoring streak. Dylan Donahue provided a goal and an assist for the Orange (1-1).

Black Knights goalie Sam Somers made 18 saves, including seven in the second quarter. John Glesener and Tyler Kamide provided the scoring for Army.

Syracuse next hosts national power Virginia at the Carrier Dome on Friday at 7 p.m.
