DANBURY, Conn. Anthony Pisanos goal with 52 seconds left in the second period and Matt Carancis two first-period tallies helped the Danbury Whalers to a 5-4 Federal Hockey League victory over the Thousand Islands Privateers in a potential playoff preview Friday night at the Danbury Arena.
Alec Kirschner handed out four assists and Mike Brown stopped 34 shots for Danbury (26-21), which has already secured the second seed in the FHL playoffs.
Peter Campbell netted two second period-goals for Thousand Islands (22-27), which has a one-point edge over Danville for the third seed. Sean Walsh scored once and had two assists for the Privateers.
Thousand Islands has four games left, while Danville only has two games in the regular season including a game on Sunday at Danville.
The Privateers play at first-place Dayton Demonz tonight.
