We hear a lot about our Second Amendment rights today, but what we dont hear is how that amendment came to be.
The Revolutionary War was fought by the militia, which was a group of individuals from each state formed to protect the states. It was the same militia that fought the Civil War. When the Constitution and the amendments were first developed, the developers wanted to be sure the militia was able to keep their arms, so the Second Amendment to keep and bear arms was developed and passed.
What people dont realize is the militia of General Washingtons time has evolved into the National Guard of today.
