CANTON — St. Lawrence County will receive a $224,450 refund for Medicaid costs.

The refund was based on the 2011 formula for Federal Medicaid Assistance Percentage, Department of Social Services Commissioner Christopher R. Rediehs said.

The state determined that St. Lawrence and 19 other counties were entitled to a refund.

The money, expected to come this year, was never budgeted so it will be used to build the county’s fund balance.
