Few details were available from the Northeast UAS Airspace Integration Research Alliance in light of the recent request from the Federal Aviation Administration for proposals for six drone testing sites nationwide.

The regional based group’s leadership has not decided on any sites that will be pitched as a testing site, but the group will lobby for locations in New York and Massachusetts.

A NUAIR spokeswoman said the group would present more details of its proposal to the FAA this week. She noted that the proposal process could go until May.

Fort Drum hopes to be in the running for the one of the sites.
