HENDERSON The Town Council on Wednesday night unanimously approved an upgrade to the meters in Water District 2 to allow them to be read by radio, improving accuracy and reading speed.
The $59,925 cost of the upgrade and necessary computer software comes from grant money already available for work in the district, meaning there will be no additional costs for residents.
In the past, stopping at each house to read water meters could take town employees four to five hours. With the upgrade, employees will pick up a meters count as they drive past it.
