CHAUMONT — Troy Wilson poured in a career-high 40 points and handed out 11 assists as the fifth-seeded Lyme boys basketball team survived a wild fourth quarter to beat No. 12 Madison, 78-69, in a Section 3 Class D first-round game on Saturday.

The Indians and the Blue Devils combined for 64 points in the final quarter.

Kody Goutremont had 15 points and seven rebounds for Lyme (15-4), which will face No. 4 Cincinnatus on Tuesday at a time yet to be determined.

Jake Brouillette led Madison (10-9) with 26 points and Logan Snyder had 23.

SACKETS HARBOR 69, BLESSED VIRGIN MARY 55

Zach Rousseau finished with 13 points, six rebounds and five blocked shots as the No. 6 Patriots took a Class D first-round game over the No. 11 Saints at Sackets Harbor.

Josh Keruski had 17 points, while Ryan Allen added 16 points and six assists. Colton Belcher had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Kyle Gonseth added 13 points for Sackets Harbor (13-6), which will play No. 3 Faith Heritage either Tuesday or Wednesday. James Payne had 16 points for Blessed Virgin Mary (10-9) of Syracuse.

NEW YORK MILLS 61, COPENHAGEN 49

Cody Mariotti had a game-high 20 points as the No. 2 Marauders beat the No. 15 Golden Knights in Class D first-round game at New York Mills.

Nick Comenale chipped in 18 points for New York Mills (16-3), which will host No. 7 Oriskany on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Antonio Figueroa and Kody Petrus each netted 19 points for Copenhagen (6-12).

MADRID-WADDINGTON 68, CHATEAUGAY 52

Colin O’Bryan scored 26 points and added six rebounds and six assists to lead the No. 6 Yellow Jackets (14-6) to an upset win over No. 3 Chateaugay in a Section 10 Class D quarterfinal at Potsdam High School.

Madrid-Waddington will meet No. 2 Edwards-Knox in Wednesday’s 6 p.m. semifinal at SUNY Canton.

Greg Thompson and Richard Wright each scored 12 points for Madrid-Waddington. Devin Barnes scored 13 points for Chateaugay (14-5).

EDWARDS-KNOX 57, HEUVELTON 49

The Cougars (17-2) defeated No. 7 Heuvelton in a Class D quarterfinal at Potsdam High School.

Kaden Dandrow led Edwards-Knox with 18 points, while Jesse Bullock scored 13. Brandon Power’s 15 points led the Bulldogs (13-7).

HARRISVILLE 61, LISBON 53

Jared Dreythaler led No. 4 Harrisville (16-4) into the semifinals with an 18-point effort against No. 5 Lisbon in a Class D quarterfinal at Potsdam High School.

Harrisville will meet No. 1 St. Regis Falls in Wednesday’s 7:45 p.m. semifinal at SUNY Canton.

Jake Putney led Lisbon (14-6) with 17 points, and Jimmy Robinson tossed in 16.

ST. REGIS FALLS 48, MORRISTOWN 28

The Saints used a 16-4 spurt in the first quarter to beat No. 9 Morristown (7-12) in a Class D quarterfinal at Potsdam High School.

Tyler Daggett led St. Regis Falls (17-1) with 10 points.

HOCKEY

MASSENA 2, CANTON 1 (3 OT)

Tyler Young one-timed a pass from Grayson Phillips at 3 minutes, 13 seconds of the third overtime to lead No. 2 Massena over No. 3 Canton in a Section 10 Division I semifinal.

The Red Raiders (13-6-1) will face No. 1 Potsdam for the title at 1 p.m. next Sunday at Cheel Arena.

Massena scored the first goal of the game just 28 seconds into the second period by Phillips. Canton (8-11-2) answered with a goal from Sean Rodee at 2:31 of the third.

POTSDAM 2, SALMON RIVER 1

The Sandstoners (15-6) used two second-period goals from Trevor Kelleher to knock off No. 4 Salmon River in a Division I semifinal in Potsdam.

Ty Terrance scored for the Shamrocks (3-15-2) in the third. Devin Crary had with 23 saves for Potsdam.

VOLLEYBALL

LOWVILLE 3, TULLY 1

Haley Riley turned in 19 kills, 17 service points, eight aces and 17 digs as the No. 3 Red Raiders (16-4) upset the No. 1 Black Knights (18-2) to capture the Section 3 Class C-1 title at Chittenango High School.

Tasha Widrick had 35 assists for Lowville, which won 25-21, 28-26, 22-25, 25-20. Lowville’s Rachael Waite added 13 kills, and Chelsea Koster had 17 digs.

BOYS SWIMMING

CYCLONES SHINE AT QUALIFIER

The Watertown boys swimming team repeated its exceptional Thursday performances by qualifying for states in the same five events during the Section 3 overall finals and state qualifier on Saturday at Hamilton College in Clinton.

The state swimming meet is slated for March 1-2 at Webster-Schroeder high school in Webster.

Watertown racked up 275 points, while Liverpool scored 352 points for first place. Indian River (83) finished 12th out of 27 teams.

Watertown also finished second to Liverpool during Thursday’s Class A meet, qualifying for states in the same three individual events and two relays.

Michael Netto of Watertown finished first in the 200-yard individual medley and second in the 200 breaststroke, with state-qualifying times. He also contributed to the Cyclones’ winning 200 freestyle relay and second-place 200 medley relay, which qualified for states.

Joey Ongkingco took third place in the 100 butterfly, with a state-qualifying time, and was a part of Watertown’s state-bound 200 medley relay.

Brad McKinney and Andrew Marilley contributed to both state-qualifying relays, and Neal Ruparelia swam a leg on the 200 free relay for Watertown.

Watertown’s Shayne Watson, who finished fifth in diving, qualified for states during the Frontier League diving championships on Jan 19.
