EVANS MILLS Rosalie VanDusen, 93, of 25991 US Rt. 11, Evans Mills, passed February 16, 2013 at her home where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Calcium Community Church. Burial will be in the spring at the Sanford Corners Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at the home of Rosalie VanDusen on Rt. 11.
Born on June 6, 1919 in Evans Mills, NY, daughter of Joseph R. and Edith Jabas Herrick, she graduated from Watertown High School in 1938. She then attended Cazenovia Jr. College for a year and transferred to St. Lawrence University.
She married Jack B. VanDusen at the family homestead in Evans Mills on June 7, 1952. Upon their marriage the couple built their home on Rt. 11 and have lived there since 1952.
Mrs. VanDusen worked at the P.X. at Pine Camp, General Electric in Syracuse, Indian River School District and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Calcium Home Bureau, Eastern Star, Calcium Community Church and Sweet Adelines now known as Harmony, Inc.
For all who knew her, knew that Rosalie always had her camera ready for a snapshot with friends and family. She was an avid gardener and food preserver, especially tomato soup. Rosalie appreciated all flowers from dandelions to cultivated roses and always had a fresh bouquet to adorn her home. She enjoyed traveling and wintered in Florida and in most recent years in Phoenix, Arizona with her son.
Among her survivors are two sons, David J. VanDusen, Phoenix, AZ, Roy F. VanDusen, Vergennes, VT; a daughter and son in law, Diane E. and Jason S. Anderson, Manlius, NY; several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Jack B. VanDusen; three brothers, Karl, Earl and Roger Herrick; three sisters, Wanda Herrick, Wylma Herrick and Irene Stevens all died before her.
Donations may be made to the Evans Mills Ambulance Squad, Calcium Community Church or Hospice of Jefferson County.
