A Gouverneur man on Saturday was accused of stealing medicine, then trying to get a cash refund from two Watertown Kinney Drug stores.
Watertown police charged Eli B. Hubbard Jr., 37, with two counts of first-degree falsifying business records and single counts of petit larceny and attempted petit larceny.
Mr. Hubbard was accused of taking four boxes of over-the-counter medication, worth $101.96, on Tuesday from the Kinney store at 905 Coffeen St., then returning some for a refund. Then, on Wednesday, he attempted to exchange more stolen merchandise for cash at the 1729 State St. store, police said.
He was held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $750 bail.
