CANTON Living Curiously is a smoking place.
The recently opened shop in the cellar of 109 Main St. offers a large variety of pipes, hemp and paracord jewelry, T-shirts, flavored tobacco wraps, organic rolling paper, and a dozen flavors of shiazo for hookahs.
Glass pipes can be sandblasted and custom painted. Wood, metal and glass pipes including some blown into the shape of animals range in price from $10 to $200.
Everything here is intended for tobacco use, said owner Eli D. Carrier, Canton. Its not intended for anything else.
Nothing illegal is sold, Mr. Carrier said. Cigarettes are not part of the product line because they are widely available elsewhere, but Mr. Carrier eventually plans to have a humidor to sell individual cigars. He wants to expand his clothing line in the fall to North Face jackets.
Ive got a lot of stuff I want to get, Mr. Carrier said. My inventory changes every week. Im here to please the public. Suggestions are always welcome.
Mr. Carrier named his shop Living Curiously to draw people in.
The curiosity part leaves it open to what I have, he said. It just brings that attraction.
Mr. Carrier, the former owner of Carriers Taxi, decided to open the shop as a way to make money while he pursued an online degree from Ashford University.
Its been busy, a lot of foot traffic, he said. Weve had professionals to college kids.
The shop, which features painted murals by Sean Lennox, is open from noon to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
