CANTON Emma Rexford scored 15 points to lead top-seeded Canton to a 68-30 win over No. 4 Brushton-Moira in a Section 10 Class C girls basketball semifinal game on Thursday night.
Canton (16-2 overall) will meet No. 3 St. Lawrence Central for the championship at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at SUNY Potsdam.
Katie Christy added 13 points for the Golden Bears. Arielle Gary led Brushton-Moira (7-11) with nine points.
ST. LAWRENCE 43, TUPPER LAKE 39
Breanna Vatter and Lindsey Thayer each scored seven points in the fourth quarter as No. 3 St. Lawrence Central (10-9) used a 19-10 spurt in the final quarter to upset the No. 2 Lumberjacks in a Class C semifinal in Tupper Lake.
Vatter finished with 16 points and Thayer added 14 points for SLC.
Katie Stuart led Tupper Lake (10-8) with 28 points, 14 rebounds and seven steals.
Ryane OConnor had 12 rebounds for Tupper Lake.
SALMON RIVER 78, POTSDAM 61
Abby Kellys 28-point effort sent No. 2 Salmon River past the No. 3 Sandstoners (5-13) in a Class B semifinal in Fort Covington.
Salmon River (14-5) will meet top-seeded Ogdensburg Free Academy in the championship game at 8 p.m. Feb. 22 at SUNY Potsdam.
Aliyah Cook scored 16 points, Kwio King tallied 15 and Taylor Francis added 11 for Salmon River.
Sarah Vivlamore and Shanielle Chambers both scored 17 for Potsdam (5-13).
Taylor Bonno scored 12 and Breanna Sapp added 11 for the Sandstoners.
OFA 50, GOUVERNEUR 33
The Blue Devils (13-5) took a 21-4 lead after one quarter and defeated No. 4 Gouverneur in a Class B semifinal in Ogdensburg.
Riley Luckie led OFA with 17 points and Meg Dodge tallied 10. Kristin Roberts scored 10 for the Wildcats (2-16).
POTSDAM 83, GOUVERNEUR 33
Konnor Bigwarfe scored 20 points as the No. 2 Sandstoners defeated No. 3 Gouverneur in a Class B semifinal in Potsdam.
Potsdam (13-5) will play top-seeded OFA for the championship at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at SUNY Potsdam.
Shawn Clark and Will Coleman both added 15 points for Potsdam.
Mark Horne led the Wildcats (4-15) with nine points.
OFA 96, SALMON RIVER 22
The Blue Devils built a 48-10 bulge by halftime and cruised past No. 4 Salmon River (2-17) in a Class B semifinal in Ogdensburg.
Breton LaRose scored 20 points for OFA (18-1), and Kinnon LaRose added 13 for the Blue Devils.
NETTO QUALIFIES FOR STATES
Michael Netto qualified for state competition in four events to highlight Watertowns second-place finish during the Section 3 Class A boys swimming championships at Rome Free Academy.
The defending champion Cyclones scored 293.5 points, while Liverpool easily claimed the title with 428 points. West Genesee (249.5) took third place out of 12 teams.
Netto is state-bound in the 200-yard individual medley, 100 breaststroke, and the 200 medley and 200 free relays. He captured the 200 IM with a time of 1 minute, 56.77 seconds and took second in the breaststroke in 57.54.
Watertown freshman Joey Ongkingco qualified for states with a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (53.54) and contributed to the state-bound, runner-up 200 medley relay.
Brad McKinney anchored both the 200 free relay, which took first place, and the 200 medley relay for Watertown. Andrew Marilley swam legs on both relays, and Neal Ruparelia contributed to the 200 free relay for Watertown.
Nick Burdo and Garret Clarke of Liverpool each qualified for states in four events. Burdo captured the 100 free and 100 backstroke. Clarke claimed the 100 breaststroke with a sectional-record time and took second in the 200 IM. Both contributed to a pair of winning relays.
Collin Zapisek of West Genesee clocked state-qualifying times with wins in the 200 and 500 free.
