Over the years I have sent many letters to the Times, but none with greater sadness than this one. In the dead of night our state government destroyed its right to exist, passing a law that violates everything our great country stands for. The Republican Party no longer exists in my eyes and is finished in New York. They call it the strictest gun control law in the nation, but it is really our death knell.

I am an old man now, with a lifetime of wisdom and knowledge. In my final days I am watching not only my home state, but my nation drift rapidly toward Marxist socialism and the end of the greatest nation the world has ever known. By passing a law that makes felons out of a million of our finest citizens, while further endangering our school children and doing nothing to stop the criminals that pollute our state, the political establishment has declared itself to be the true enemies of our precious freedoms.
