The Army Criminal Investigation Division has revealed the death of a soldier found June 16, 2011, in a Fort Drum barracks was ruled accidental as a result of an overdose of illegal drugs.
The investigation into the death of Sgt. Mark D. Ackerman was completed in March, the CID revealed Wednesday when asked by the Watertown Daily Times. The sergeant, 28, from Menominee, Mich., had been missing since May 25, 2011, and was the subject of a police search until his body was discovered.
