Funeral services for Gerard Jerry C. Haas, age 75 will be held privately at Foxwood Memorial Park Chapel with Deacon Francis Bateman officiating. There will be no public calling hours.
Surviving is his companion Sylvia Smith of Potsdam; friend Marc Boyer of Ogdensburg; a brother-in-law George Dillingham and his family along with many cousins. His wife Arlene and a sister Barbara Dillingham predeceased him.
Jerry was born on August 16, 1937 in Elmhurst, NY a son of the late Charles & Hedwig (Czaharowski) Haas. After high school he entered the US Army from 1961 – 1967 during the Korean Conflict. He married Arlene Oppliger on January 19, 1979 at St. Marys Cathedral with Rev. Paul Whitmore officiating the couples marriage.
He was employed at Mitel Corp in Ogdensburg for many years as an electrical engineer, and retired in 1999. He enjoyed dining out, collecting miscellaneous farm equipment and antiques, playing on computers and spending time outdoors. Condolences can be shared online at www.foxandmurrayfuneralhome.com.
