OGDENSBURG City police arrested Chauncey J. Pray, 23, of 76 Demot St., Hammond, on Wednesday on charges of third-degree felony robbery and third-degree misdemeanor attempted assault following a late-night robbery of a taxi driver near Knox and Clark streets Feb. 4.
Detective Daniel C. Mousaw said the driver, employed by TNT Taxi of Ogdensburg, said her customer, a white male, grabbed her while the cab was in motion and forced the vehicle into park.
The driver freed herself from the assailant, who removed only a cellphone and the vehicles keys, before she fled the scene.
She escaped with the money bag from the nights fares.
Mr. Pray was in police custody Wednesday night pending arraignment in City Court.
Mr. Mousaw said no weapons were displayed in the robbery. No further arrests are expected.
